STANDARDS FOR PRODUCTION OFFICES & AROUND THE SET:
* Recycle everything you can; provide recycling bins for all recyclables.
* Buy products with recycled content; products sold in packaging that can be recycled.
* Reduce excess/individual packaging waste and buy food and products in bulk.
* Encourage the use of personal reusable dishware and mugs when possible; provide unbleached, recycled paper towels and plates/cups (avoid disposable plastics or styrofoam).

* Replace standard watt bulbs with energy efficient, long-lasting compact fluorescent light bulbs. Turn off lights when not needed.
* Print and copy double-sided whenever possible, and reuse single-sided, used paper.
* For catered conferences, meetings, general craft services, make sure food suppliers do not provide styrofoam - ask caterers to provide only recyclable serving containers (eg. aluminum pans).
* Arrange to have leftovers from catered meals picked up by a food bank that donates to local shelters.
* Use nontoxic soap and cleaners; supply or ask the janitorial staff to stock chlorine free toilet paper, paper towels and tissues.
* Support organic farming and buy organic food, shade-grown/organic and fair trade coffee & teas.
* For Logo T-shirts and accessories, consider clothing made of organic cotton and/or recycled materials.
* Buy locally produced products and materials whenever possible to reduce additional pollution and energy use associated with transportation.
* Discard hazardous wastes at an appropriate drop off center.
* Purchase used office furniture when possible.
* Donate all unwanted items to organizations in need, food and clothing to shelters, equipment to nonprofits, schools, children’s organizations etc.
* Encourage incentives for carpooling and using public transportation.
* Use Energy Star rated/labeled energy efficient computers, copiers, fax machines, refrigerators and other appliances. Turn off any equipment when not in use.
* Decorate with plants and natural fibers/materials; bring the sense of outdoors in.
…and of course, set an example for others and get them involved too!
AT HOME
1. Put items into recycling bins - newspaper, cans, plastics, glass, junk mail
2. Drive cars that get high gas mileage or drive electric or hybrid cars
3. Turn off lights when leaving rooms
4. Walk or ride a bike for errands, to school, to parties; or carpool
5. Donate old household items to charities, shelters, schools etc.
6. Buy food in bulk; carry items in canvas bags; put food into reusable storage containers
7. Buy organic food and other products from farmers markets or health food stores.
Have organic labeled products on the kitchen counter, on shelves, in the refrigerator.
8. Turn off the water when brushing teeth or scrubbing pots and pans
9. Volunteer for environmental and social causes
10. Put Kids’ lunches in reusable containers and reusable lunch bags
AT THE OFFICE
1. Utilize recycling bins for white paper, mixed paper/junk mail, magazines, newspapers, bottles and cans
2. Eat with and drink from reusable kitchenware and mugs (no disposable paper, plastic, or styrofoam)
3. Carpool to work in a vehicle that gets high gas mileage - or in an electric or hybrid, or use public transportation
4. Work in offices surrounded by plants and natural lighting from windows
5. Turn off lights, computers and equipment when not in use.
6. Petition the office to upgrade to energy efficient equipment with EPA’s Energy Star label
7. Donate old computer software to schools, children’s organizations, nonprofits
8. Bring lunch packed in reusable containers
